This is a conversation that Ashley had with Blossom, our interpreter, a few days ago. Gwen and I have had similar exchanges with young English-speaking children or others on various occasions.
Blossom: You have many mosquito bites on your face.
Ashley: Yes. Yes I do.
Blosson: Are they mosquito bites or bug bites?
Ashley: Probably both.
Blossom: Why? Don't you wear repellent?
Ashley: I do, but perhaps not enough.
Blossom: Have you tried medication?
Ashley: No, but I should try that.
Us Americans, accustomed to the dry climate of Utah, and not blessed with the clear, beautiful skin of the native Indians, often have our acne mistaken as bug and mosquito bites. Its nice to know that these people care.
